Apologies for the somewhat chaotic communication for the maintenance release last week.
Planned maintenance window: October 23th, 5am-7am

What happened:
* October 23th, 4:30 : Work on upgrade started
* October 23th, 6:30 : SWITCHhub down (as required as part of the upgrade)
* October 23th, 8:47 : SWITCHhub available again (delayed, effective Downtime was 2h 12min)
At this point of time, SWITCHhub was available again but not yet officially released by our supplier.
Main reason was that our supplier was still working on rolling out the integrations for Google G-Suite for Education and Microsoft Office 365.
While this work did not affect the production system, we only received the official release from our supplier on Friday afternoon, October 25th.
In retrospective, we should have just announced “Everything done” on October 23th, 09:00, as it was known that all further work would have no impact on users.
To make it worse, we had an incident on October 23th, 11am. Turned out to be not related to the release, but we first needed to analyze and confirm this.
We are taking the following measurements to improve upgrades in the future:
* Better coordination with our supplier, in particular: What actually causes downtime / affects users vs. Supplier is testing / changing parts not affecting users
* Better communication towards SWITCHhub users
Considering the incident, we are working on improving our monitoring which did not see that one coming.
Summary:
SWITCHhub 1.1 is up and running. Areas of improvements for future releases have been identified and will be implemented.

The upgrade took longer than we expected and was finish at 8:50am.
There will be still some configuration changes, but no further service outages, so SWITCHhub is available.
We inform you once all configuration changes have been applied.

We have scheduled the following maintenance window for SWITCHhub:
Date: October 23th, 2019
Time: 5am-7am
A new minor version of SWITCHhub will be deployed.
Besides addressing some minor issues, this release will allow us to offer a deep integration of G-Suite for Education.
A detailed changelog will be published on October 23th.
During the maintenance window there can be short service outages.
